Sky adds on-demand listings & remote box-set downloads to Sky+ iOS app

Following several updates to its On Demand service this year, Sky is serving up a seasonal stocking filler to Sky+ app users with the addition of On Demand listings allowing them to start downloading onto a compatible Sky+HD set top box from anywhere in the house via iPhone, iPad, iPad Mini or iPod touch.

Users can browse through a library of around 6,000 hours of programming via the Sky+ app, and with one click set them to download to their Sky+HD set-top box to watch whenever it suits.

The addition of On Demand listings is third major update of the year for the Sky+ app. Earlier in the year Sky added new Catch Up TV to the platform, alongside the existing TV library of TV shows and movies.

Luke Bradley-Jones, Director of TV Products, Sky said: “This great new feature capitalises on the iPad or iPhone touchscreen to make it easier than ever to browse and discover something new to watch, regardless of whether you are near your Sky+HD box or elsewhere in your home. So when you’ve got a house-full this Christmas, rather than interrupt the kids’ cartoons or the big match, you can now browse through the On Demand movie listings from the kitchen whilst making dinner, and find the perfect film to watch later on.
